Overall results ČEZ SkiTour 2024
The season of the largest Czech cross-country skiing series ČEZ SkiTour started in mid-January with the season opener in Horní Mísečky in the Giant mountains and ended in Šerlich with the Orlický marathon. In the end, it consisted of only 3 stops and we had to cancel the other races, including the Jizerska 50, due to lack of snow. The partner race in Poland, Bieg Piastów, was also cancelled. Due to the cancellation of the last 2 races, the announcement will only be made online in this article and on our social media.
The opening of the 17th season took place in mid-January in Horní Mísečky in the Giant Mountains with a record participation of 475 competitors. Saturday belonged to the children's Mini SkiTour and the 20 skating. Sunday was marked by classic technique races. The weather in Mísečky was really wintry during the race weekend and all races were held in heavy snowfall. Petr Knop won both the 20 free and 30 classic. Several well-known Olympians including Lukáš Rohan were also present at the opening of the season.
The series continued with the second stop in the heart of the Jizera Mountains. The Bedřichov Night Light Marathon 2024 lit up the forests of the Jizera Mountains on 26th and 27th January. The program started on Friday evening with the Volkswagen 17.5 and 30 km skating technique races. Saturday's race day started with the Mini SkiTour children's race in the afternoon. In the evening, there were 30, 17.5 and 10 km classic technique races. Especially Friday's weather in Bedřichov tested every competitor. Despite the unfavourable conditions, we managed to prepare the courses well and over 600 competitors took to the start. Several important faces of Czech sport took part in the race in Bedřichov - Martin Koukal, Zuzana Kocumová, Marcela Joglová and Petr Knop.
Due to the subsequent cancellation of the remaining races, the 17th season of the ČEZ SkiTour ended with the 40th anniversary race. Orlický marathon on the mountain saddle Šerlich in the Orlické Mountains, where we moved the race due to the lack of snow in the locality of Deštné v Orlických horách. Nearly 500 brave skiers who conquered the local trails around Velká Deštná did not miss the experience. Although wind, rain, and heat made the performance difficult, the positive atmosphere carried through the whole first weekend in February.
Due to the cancellation of the last 2 races, the series will be announced online only. The winners will be contacted by email and prize money worth a total of 60 000 CZK and other prizes will be sent to everyone's address! The same procedure also applies to our SkiTour Masters. Unfortunately, due to the shortened season, we will not be giving them the full prize package - we will send them a SkiTour Master cap and a sports headband. Please understand, with the problematic and shortened 2024 season, we have to keep the rest of the prizes for SkiTour Masters for the following year.
