Over 4,000 athletes from 24 countries have signed up for the 46th Bieg Piastów – Cross-Country Skiing Festival organized within the Worldloppet Ski Federation and ČEZ SkiTour. Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekieli, The Queen of Polish Skis, will race, too.

The Olympic and world champion, World Cup winner Justyna Kowalczyk will race in the 50 km CT. This will be her third start in the Bieg Piastów on its main distance. She won it in 2017 and 2019. However, as she is no longer a competitive athlete, the question of victory remains still open. Her main rival may be the Czech star Adela Boudikova, who also won the 50 km in the Bieg Piastów – in 2016.

Among men, the favorite is the winner of the Bieg Piastów from two years ago, Dominik Bury, who has scored points many times in the World Cup. Another representative of the Polish national team, Michał Skowron, will compete with him.

The Bieg Piastów will be held in a traditional form, i.e., from mass starts, and not individually, as a year ago. Anti-covid restrictions apply to unvaccinated contestants – max. 250 per race are allowed.

The competition will take place on beautiful, natural routes in the Jizera Mountains in south-western Poland. The conditions are currently excellent: all trails are ready and have been daily groomed for many weeks. The weather forecast is also very promising – from Friday to Sunday strong frost at night is expected, during the day there will be from 0°C to minus 1°C, snow should fall on Friday, and it will be sunny on Saturday and Sunday. This will be a fast race!

Aside from the 50 km CT, within the 46th Bieg Piastów three other SkiTour races, 30 km FT, 25 km CT and 6 km CT, will be held.
